FAQs

Brokers and insurers can reference the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on this page for more information about iClarify and how to use this powerful tool to their maximum advantage.

Q:  Where is iClarify data derived from?
A:  iClarify utilizes a unique combination of data from the largest repository of total loss claims through RMS’ association with Claimspro, Canada’s largest independent claims adjusting firm. Through RMS’ core business of physical inspection, its repository of inspection data is unmatched by any other firm. Furthermore, RMS’ exclusive relationship with ILOOKABOUT provides imagery from Canada’s largest database of accurate residential photographs. This powerful combination works in conjunction with information provided by third party databases.

Q:  Is the reconstruction cost generated by iClarify reflective of the labour costs of the region/neighbourhood?
A:  Yes, RMS analyzes municipal data, along with the surrounding properties/population and inspections performed on the home (when available).

Q:  Does RMS share or return information back to third parties? Will the changes I input into iClarify affect my client’s property tax rating?
A:  No, RMS does not provide any information back to any non-contractually bound parties. Furthermore, RMS does not share any information with any tax assessment authority.

Q:  When I submit changes to data listed in iClarify’s ‘14 Points of Light’ on a particular residence, do these changes automatically get uploaded into the iClarify database? Can I expect to see these changes reflected in future iClarify reports?
A:  As a matter of policy, RMS does not update the database unless it is with verified information such as a physical inspection.

Q:  Can we provide copies of iClarify reports to insureds?
A:  Yes.  If the client requests to view copy of a report, the user may provide it.

Q:  Will we have capability in the future to receive information about the location, for example, was previously a grow-op, student housing, etc.?
A:  If there are any available data sets, RMS will utilize them; otherwise we are subject to PIPEDA restrictions.

Q:  When a residence has combinations, i.e. a percentage of brick and aluminum siding or a half finished basement - what should users select in the drop down options?
A:   As a general rule of thumb, select the option with the highest percentage. At this point, the engine is not designed for percentages - input the majority construction type.

Q:  How does RMS regulate who has access to reports and data generated?
A: Only organizations with signed contractual agreements have access to iClarify.

Q:  Why can I not find my address?
A:  There are a variety of reasons why a user may not be able to locate their address. Some potential reasons include:  the address is a rural property, the address does not conform to a civic addressing format or it may be a new build. Please consult the User Guide under ‘Support’ for further search options.

Q:  Why are there no images of my property available?
A: ILOOKABOUT currently provides accurate image databases on communities of 4000 or greater.  iClarify is currently improving our penetration of smaller communities.

Q:  Is iClarify a national product?
A: Yes.  iClarify has achieved critical mass in Ontario with very high success rates and positive feedback from both brokers and insurers alike. The solution continues to roll-out across Canada.

Q:  Is information from the Fire Underwriters Survey™ available?
A: Yes, critical data including a property’s distance to the nearest fire hall and the municipality’s fire protection grades are available exclusively to subscribers of The Fire Underwriters Survey™.
